Body of Work

I've recaptured my appreciation for loud and thud-filled music as I've recently started running again. so this mix is a sample of songs I listen for that. This isn't a mix about being clever (well, maybe just one thing), or innovative, or even new songs. It's just about trying to ignore how much my lungs hurt.

01 VNV Nation | Farthest Star (Prime Version)
02 Rotersand | Dare to Live
03 Sebastian Komor | Electro Body Music (Freak Edit)
04 Combichrist | Get your Body Beat
05 Tiga | Move My Body (Boys Noize Remix)
06 Faderhead | Dirtygrrrls/Dirtybois (Electro for the Masses Remix)
07 Nine Inch Nails | Mr. Self Destruct
08 Grendel | Soilbleed V.3
09 Prodigy | Firestarter
10 The Azoic | Conflict (Combichrist Mix)

Side B

01 Rachel's - Full On Night
02 Tortoise - Bubble Economy (Remix by Markus Popp)
03 M83 - Gone

Text:
Lets Dream of Summer & Never Wake Up
(pssst... this is a ghost story)

Cassandra looked up at the sunny summer sky with dreamy eyes. She had not slept at all last night and was staring starkly at the sky till she could not bare the brightness, then with a harsh squint and falling tears she looked away. She had seen a brave Night Crawler do this on Pete & Pete when she was much younger than she is now. That she was even remembering such far away things was surely more to the credit of her sleep deprived state than any powers of recall. Still, it seemed to to the trick. A bit of pain seemed just was in order. She felt a little bit guilty about things but mostly she was just tired of feeling tired.

Her evening had been the kind of evening you tell your best friend about, but not the kind you tell your other friends about, but it was still not quite so naughty that one might only tell a hole in the ground (by the by, it is suggested that you do this in a graveyard rather than a plowed field. This way, the dead are happier for their rest and the crops, while mysteriously sweet, cannot deliver the secret to unknown tongues) and so Cassie was looking for her best friend, Leander.

Leander, was sitting in the park waiting. He was waiting to be found specifically. His mother taught him very well and he knew that when you loose someone the best way to be found again was to stay in one place. If you keep walking around, she said, then you can easily find yourself just ahead of the party you are seeking. This, of course, is not true. New Scientists have taught us it is actually wiser to dart about frantically at an alternating pace, but Leander did not know that. His mother was something of an idiot, for all her love.

Leander was sitting in the park waiting to be found. The bench he was sitting on was still cold from the night even as the morning sun warmed everything around him. The chill of the metal against his skin served to keep him awake. He had not slept at all last night and knew that soon he would find himself asleep sitting up when the bench warmed up. While waiting is a very noble thing to do, it is not so much conductive to raising ones metabolism. In fact, with the lack of sleep, Leander's metabolism was fighting furiously to shut down. He tried to think of what kept him awake more than anything else in his life and the best he could think of was Christmas Morning. For most of his life Leander was a human-skinned breed of Night Owl. For no amount of squawking by his mother could cajole him into bed at night nor the crowing of his father in the morning find Leander rising faster. Christmas Morning was different. He stayed up late even later than normal and woke up earlier than usual. Once when he was 9 he woke up 3 1/2 hours after he went to bed. He permitted himself a single present without witnesses (a new Silverhawk toy that gleamed in the morning light so brightly it hurt his eyes) and set himself to playing till everyone else woke up. Leander thought about it and realized that what *really* got him out up so early was the sweet stinging vice of anticipation on his heart. He thought he had thought himself out of his sleepy troubles till he realized that anticipation is really just another form of waiting and that brought him right back to where he was, which was on a bench, in a park, and not yet found.
